This past weekend we were at an all motorcycle race in Sacramento. My dad, Mike Fields Jr., and I worked really hard on putting our fast motor into the bike to get to this race. We wanted everything to be perfect and right in order to protect our motor. I am still on the sponsorship hunt, so to make sure we can keep racing, we really try to take good care of our equipment.

The motor we put in the bike had never been ran before. The first pass, the bike sounded great! It wanted to fly, but with the track conditions we spun the tire hard off the line. I rode it out and short shifted the first three shifts. Even with the spinning tire and the short shifting, we ran 184 mph. We were all ecstatic to see that this motor has some power. Thank you Gann Custom!

On our next qualifying pass, I spun really hard off the line. It sent me right for the center line. When I was unable to reel the pass back in, I pulled in the clutch to abort the run. Right about the time I pulled in the clutch, I hit a big bump in the track. I was way out of the groove. My crew told me it looked like I went for a pretty good ride when I hit that bump. It did shake me pretty hard! The real bummer for me was after getting shut down and off the track; I couldn’t get the bike to shift through the gears. We were done for the day, but I was greatly relieved when we found that it was just a bent shift fork.

One thing that racing, especially pro stock racing has taught me is nothing comes for free. We have faced our fair share of struggles. I am so excited to say that even with the struggles, this team is progressing. We have all been working so hard and so many people have contributed to our progress. This has really been a team effort and I can’t thank everyone who has contributed enough. I can’t wait to see all the hard work pay off!

I am also very excited to say that my dad and I had our final meeting with the DMV and we are now licensed dealers. As soon as we are ready Kalifornia Katie’s Trailer Sales can be open for business. It will hopefully be soon; just a couple small details need to be worked out. It has been a long process, but the hard work we have been putting into this business is starting to pay off. I have learned so much. I am studying business in school, but there is nothing like real world experience!

Another exciting venture in my life at the moment was an investment into a graphics machine. I am now designing and cutting my own graphics. I don’t want to spoil any details, but just wait until you see our new bike design! My only hint is that it’s going to be what I like to call “zebratastic.” I am having a blast doing it. I hope to start doing graphic design for other people soon too. I want to get the trailer sales all sorted before I add more to my plate. My dad always tells me I have a tendency to get ahead of myself. He knows I get my ambitious nature from him though!

Things are really going great here in Sunny California. My mom is racing this weekend in Redding. She has really taken to this sport. My sister’s pregnancy is going well, my brother in law, Shaun, and Kristin are so excited to be parents. My brother, Chance, is a mechanical engineer in Oregon, and he is doing so well for himself. My little cat Torque is also living t he life, he is a little on the spoiled side. Life can be a challenge sometimes, but wow is it amazing! Talk to everyone soon!
