Bakersfield, Calif. – Jesse Adams attended the 2010 NHRA Heritage Series March Meet for one purpose; to win. After 7 rounds of competition, the 28-year old Yuba City, Calif. based driver accomplished his mission and captured the Hot Rod category championship at the 52nd running of this historic event.

Driving his K&N Filters sponsored classic 1969 Chevrolet Camaro, Adams took home the hardware and the exclusive title of March Meet Champion after outlasting 127 fellow competitors over three days in the bracket-style Hot Rod category. He also captured the Kern County number one qualifier trophy for running 0.009 seconds off his first round 11.220 second dial-in. The victory for Adams was one he will never forget.

Jesse Adams drove his K&N Filters Camaro to a final round victory with a dead-on 11.23 et.

“I’ve had the honor of winning several races in my 12 years of drag racing,” noted Adams. “But I’ve never been so excited to win a single race like this in my life. I knew coming down to this event at Famoso was not about winning money, it was about the prestige, the honor of simply competing at the March Meet. 52 times this race has been contested at this historic racing facility and I can proudly say that Jesse Adams won the March Meet. This is something I can tell my son about. That‚s how much it means to me.”

Adams march to the final round did not come easily. During his 6 previous rounds of eliminations his average margin of victory was less than 0.01 seconds. He received a bye-run in the quarter-final round advancing him to the semi-final round. After capturing the semi victory, Adams was scheduled to face Mike Rogers from Covina, Calif. in the final round.

Adams 383 cid Small Block Chevy powered 69 Camaro

The money round was a classic Chevrolet versus Ford affair, with Adams K&N Filters 383 small block Chevrolet Camaro matching up against Rogers potent 1965 small block 302 cubic inch Ford Mustang. As the light turned green, Rogers was on his game and captured a slight starting line advantage over Adams, however, as the cars approached the finish line, Adams was faced with a difficult decision. He decided to let Rogers take the stripe, assuming his opponent would break-out. Adams gamble paid off as Rogers ran 0.010 seconds quicker than his 12.14 second dial-in, while Adams was 0.007 slower than his 11.230 index, handing the 2010 March Meet championship to Adams.

“Sometimes you just have to hand the other guy the stripe, even in the final round,” stated Adams. “I knew the K&N Filters Camaro was running well on this day and I felt I cut a pretty good light, so I just let him take the stripe. Fortunately for me, he broke-out. Winning the event was even more special because I got to share the winner‚s circle with my CRX Promotions team mate Adam Sorokin who won in Nostalgia Top Fuel. It was a great weekend indeed.”

CRX Clients claim two more championships at March Meet.

Bakersfield, Calif. – It was an epic day at the legendary Auto Club Famoso Raceway as CRX clients Adam Sorokin and Jesse Adams captured championships in their respective categories during the 52nd running of the NHRA Heritage Series March Meet.

The 2010 edition of the famous late-winter pilgrimage to the Famoso quarter-mile began with three CRX clients competing at the historic event. James Day entered the March Meet driving the “Foothill Flyer” Nostalgia Top Fuel Dragster. Adam Sorokin competed in the same category behind the wheel of the brand new Champion Speedshop / Van Dyke Motorsports hemi-powered dragster. Jesse Adams raced in his 1969 Camaro in the very competitive Hot Rod category.

Jesse Adams drove his K&N Filters Camaro to a final round victory with a dead-on 11.23 et.

Jesse Adams drove his K&N Filters 1969 Chevrolet Camaro to a victory in the very competitive Hot Rod category with his final round victory, recording a dead-on 11.23 second elapsed time in the money round to take home the coveted March Meet title. “Tim, I just won the March Meet,” was the text message Adams typed to CRX Director of Communications and Marketing Tim Charlet only 4 minutes after he crossed the finish line.

“Winning this race had nothing to do with the money, it was about the history and prestige,” noted Adams. “Several drag racing legends have won races here at the March Meet. To be included in the same category as those guys is a huge honor. I’m just glad the K&N Filter’s Camaro was on fire this weekend. And the driver didn’t do that shabby either,” Adams said with a chuckle.

Adam Sorokin runs a 5.764 at 241.64 to win the final round at the 52nd Annual March Meet.

Second generation driver Adam Sorokin accomplished a life-long goal of winning the same historic race his legendary father, Mike Sorokin won in 1966. 44-years after his dad’s greatest victory, the “son of the surfer” has his own March Meet AA/FD championship. Sorokin’s final round 5.764 second elapsed time at a speed of 241.61 mph was the winner over Howard Haight’s 5.93-second 246 MPH effort. The triumph has been a long time coming for the Champion Speedshop / Van Dyke Motorsports team, who brought the all-new hemi-powered dragster to the 52nd March Meet with only a single test run complete, recorded one week before the race in Sacramento. Once at the March Meet the car went quicker and faster with each pass.

“It was an unbelievable race weekend for the entire team,” said Sorokin. “My mom told me I was conceived at this race track during this race when my dad won and to come back after all these years and win it is too big a dream to be true.”

The weekend did not end up as veteran nitro-pilot Day would have wanted, as cold track conditions threw the ‘Foothill Flyer’ crew a curve-ball and the make-shift team went home after a first round defeat. “I was simply honored to race this weekend,” noted Day. “This deal came about so quickly for us and the entire crew did a fabulous job, we just were not able to lay down a representative run. Hopefully, we’ll be able to compete at future events with this team.”

All-in-all, this weekend will go down as a historic one for the CRX Promotions team. It marked the first time two CRX Clients captured victory on the same day. The wins by Sorokin and Adams are victories number 2 and 3 for the CRX team of drivers while under the CRX banner. Tony Bartone and Rick Jackson Racing became the first clients to bring home a trophy for the CRX team when they captured the NHRA Division 4 LODRS event in Belle Rose, LA last year.

If this weekend is any indication of future performance, several other CRX clients will be adding to our team win total shortly.

JESSE ADAMS HONORED TO RACE AT ‘THE MEET’

Bakersfield, Calif. – Hundreds of the best nostalgia drag racers on the planet will be invading ‘The Patch’ at Auto Club Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield, Calif. this weekend for the 52nd running of the March Meet. And 28-year old Jesse Adams from Yuba City, Calif. will be there looking to put his K & N Filters 1969 Camaro in the winner-circle in the very competitive Hot Rod division.

“This is one of the most historic races in our sport,” noted Adams, a very diverse driver who currently holds competition licenses in nine NHRA categories. “No matter where you go, whether it is in the pits, the staging lanes or the grandstands, you always run into several legends of the sport of drag racing at ‘the meet’. People like Garlits, Kalitta, Snake and The Greek are always available to chat with a young racer like me. I hope to do them proud by putting our K&N Filters Camaro in victory lane.”

Adams classic Chevrolet is your run of the mill NHRA Stock Eliminator car, however this weekend the K&N Filters Camaro will be in bracket racing trim, powered by a 383 cubic inch displacement small block, using a power-glide transmission with a 4.30 rear end gear ratio. Propelled by Hoosier Tires and using Biondo Racing products, Adams is cautiously optimistic his K&N Camaro will hit the number all weekend long.

“This is the first time I’ve ever race at the March Meet, but a drag strip is a drag strip. We’ve been racing our Camaro up at Sacramento Raceway the past few weeks and we’ve got lots of run data stored, which should give us a good base-line to dial our car with at Famoso. There is not a lot of money to be won in the Hot Rod category, but this weekend is not about the money. This event is about history; it’s about racing against the best and proving you can win against anybody. Just to say “I raced at the March Meet” is a distinguished honor. I am very excited for this opportunity.”

To learn more about Jesse Adams and his K&N Filters Camaro, please visit his CRX Team Page.

There are no service charges for tickets purchased online .
